A Brief History of Music

I was recently perfoeming at an event with the choir that I'm a member of. While we were waiting to go on stage I was singing along to the music that they had playing throughout the venue.
A fellow member of the choir seemed amazed that I knew the lyrics to almost every song they played and stated that she didn't really listen to music.
Music is such a big part of my life that I always find it hard to believe that other people don't listen to music constantly like I do. I also just expect people to know the lyrics to the more famous songs from the past sixty or so years.
For that reason I asked her if she would like me to make her a cd, and she said yes. But then, the hard part came! How was I going to whittle down decades wort of music to an eighty minute cd?
After much consideration, revisal of the track list, and hair pulling, the final track list was:

A Brief History of Music
My Generation-The Who
Jackson-Johnny Cash
Light My Fire-The Doors
Life on Mars?-David Bowie
A Case of You-Joni Mitchell
Rhiannon-Fleetwood Mac
Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen
Heart of Glass-Blonide
Running Up That Hill-Kate Bush
Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd
Precious Things-Tori Amos
Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana
Hallelujah-Jeff Buckley
Ironic-Alanis Morissette
Rehab-Amy Winehouse
Rabbit Heart-Florence and the Machine
Rolling in the Deep-Adele

I had to omit so many songs to finalise this list.
So what do you think? Are you appauled with what I excluded (or what I included for that matter)?
I'd love to hear what you think
